Martine Bedin

Martine Bedin

The lamps are by Martine Bedin, one of Memphis’s youngest members and one of only two women associated with the group (the other being Nathalie du Pasquier). She has said that she envisioned the Super lamp as something like a pet – it has wheels, and if you wanted to you could walk it around like a dog. Its simple semicircular shape, bold color and exposed bulbs have made it one of the most recognizable of all Memphis designs. The Terminus lamp, with its clown-like feet and exaggerated long “neck,” is rare, with only four or five ever having been produced.
