Internationally Performing, Radio-charting Florida Jazz Duo Slated for Holiday Concert on One-of-a-kind “Caligari” Piano

Museum Event Series Debuts with“Jazz Concert in the Key of Christmas”

Mount Dora, FL, Nov. 26, 2013 - Attendees at Mount Dora’s new Modernism Museum will be treated to an evening of jazz and holiday standards on a one-of-a-kind Steinway piano by internationally performing jazz musicians Per and Tamara Danielsson on Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Jazz pianist Per Danielsson, who will be performing on the Museum’s renowned Wendell Castle “Caligari” piano - along with and alto-saxophonist Tamara Danielsson - will kick off the first of a series of concerts presented by the Museum with “ A Jazz Concert in the Key of Christmas.”

The Museum selected the notable Sunshine State jazz artists for its “Caligari” Concert Series debut with the aim of packing a double punch: The Danielssons’ long list of accomplishments and the Florida fit. The duo has charted on jazz radio and performed on stages in the US and around the globe, including South Africa, Australia, Brazil, Taiwan, France, Sweden, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Canada. As well, Per and Tamara both hold Master’s degrees in jazz studies from University of South Florida. Per is currently Associate Professor with Tenure of jazz piano at the University of Central Florida, a Steinway Music School.

Subsequent concerts on the “Caligari,” which was designed and crafted in 1990 by “Modernist Movement Grandfather” Wendell Castle for the distinguished Steinway Art Case piano series, are scheduled to begin in January and will feature local and national musicians playing the fine arts-crafted Steinway instrument.

Modernism Museum manager Michele Giancola states, “We are so excited to share the sounds of the “Caligari” while introducing [the Museum’s] expansive collection of Modernist art.” The piano is currently on display as part of the year-long exhibition titled “Wharton to Wendell.” Giancola notes that the exhibition focuses on “two of the most iconic and influential masters of the craft; ” the “Caligari” is one of the exhibition’s centerpieces.

“Jazz Concert in the Key of Christmas” will take place in the Modernism Museum at 7:30 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 7 at 145 4th Avenue, Mount Dora. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. for a wine and cheese reception. Ticketholders are eligible for post-concert food and drink specials at both Cecile’s French Corner and Maggie’s Attic at Arbors & Eyebrows Retail Complex following the event.
